Fortissio is a European-regulated forex and CFD broker offering a bespoke web trader and mobile app. Day traders can access 230+ instruments and a discounted fee structure based on their account balance. This Fortissio review will cover how to register for an account and log in, average spreads, minimum deposits, leverage, and regulatory oversight.

Key Takeaways

Fee discounts of up to 60% for active traders
Wide range of instruments, including synthetic derivatives & crypto
A proprietary platform and mobile app are available only
Customer support is lacking which may deter beginners
The broker does not offer a conventional demo account

Company Details & Overview

Fortissio is a Greek-based broker-dealer with headquarters in Athens. The EU-regulated brand was established in 2011 and operates under the regulatory oversight of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC). The company is also registered with Germany’s BaFin.

Fortissio aims to bridge the gap between beginner and experienced traders with a simple-to-use proprietary trading terminal and analysis tools, including Autochartist.

Clients can trade various instruments including CFDs, forex, stocks, ETFs, and synthetic derivatives.

Trading Platforms

The broker offers a proprietary trading platform; Web PROfit. There is currently no download option for Web PROfit, meaning you can trade via web browser only.

The Fortissio terminal has been created with stability and flexibility in mind. It provides a fully customizable interface, in-platform customer support, and six language settings including English.

Web PROfit

Despite being the best fit for beginners, experienced day traders will still find useful features and functions, including up-to-the-minute charting, a catalog of analysis tools, live market updates, price alerts, and an integrated economic calendar.

It is worth noting, however, that many traders prefer familiar platforms like MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. Integrating these terminals would improve Fortissio’s rating and widen its appeal to experienced traders, in particular.

Assets & Markets

Fortissio offers a full range of investments, including cryptocurrencies and synthetic derivatives. In total, 230+ instruments are available:

Forex – Trade 49 currency pairs including EUR/GBP, USD/CAD, and GBP/JPY
Indices – Trade 26 global stock indices including S&P 500, FTSE 100 and ASX 200
Synthetic Derivatives – Trade 31 synthetic products via contracts for difference (CFDs)
Commodities – Speculate on the price of 21 commodities such as gold, natural gas, crude oil, and coffee
Stocks – Invest in 150+ global company shares such as Apple, BNP Paribas, Google, and Meta Platforms Inc
ETFs – Trade 10 exchange-traded funds such as the SPDR S&P Pharmaceuticals ETF and the Invesco QQQ Trust Series
Cryptocurrency – Speculate on the price of 13 digital currency coins such as Ripple, Ethereum, and Bitcoin, plus football club fan tokens

Note, synthetic derivatives are high-risk products that use a complex price calculation methodology. As a result, they may not be suitable for beginners.

Fees & Costs

Trading Fees

Fortissio day traders access the same fees, in the form of spreads, regardless of account type.

We were offered a 0.4 pip spread on the EUR/GBP currency pair, 1 pip on gold, and 4 pips on the S&P 500. These are in line with most of the industry.

Spreads On Popular Assets

However, discounts are also available based on account equity/banding. These range from a 0% fee reduction to a 60% discount, making the broker a good pick for active traders.

Starter – 0% trading fee and rollover discount
Explorer – 5% trading fee and rollover discount
Champion – 10% trading fee and rollover discount
Elite – 15% trading fee and rollover discount
Luxury – 20% trading fee and rollover discount
VIP – 25% trading fee and rollover discount
Prestige – 30% trading fee and rollover discount
Superior – 35% trading fee and rollover discount
Infinity – 40% trading fee and rollover discount
Royal – 50% trading fee and rollover discount
Expert – 60% trading fee and rollover discount

Note, a full list of trading spreads by instrument is available on the broker’s website.

Additional Costs

Swap fees apply for positions kept open overnight. This includes a charge of 0.05% of the overnight exposure for shares and 0.015% for currencies.

A high quarterly charge of €150 applies for dormant accounts after three months of inactivity. A 0.7% currency conversion fee also applies if you are trading instruments denominated in a currency outside of your account base. This is applied to the order’s realized profit and loss.

Leverage

The broker offers maximum leverage of 1:30, though this varies by asset class. This is in line with other European-based broker-dealers.

ETFs – 1:5
Stocks – 1:5
Cryptocurrency – 1:2
Synthetic Derivatives – 1:5
Major currency pairs – 1:30
Minor currency pairs – 1:20
Commodities – 1:20 (gold 1:10)
Indices – Major index groups 1:20 (all others 1:10)

The broker has a 50% margin close-out rule.

A professional account is also available with higher leverage.

Fortissio App

Fortissio offers a mobile-compatible version of its trading platform; PROfit. Day traders can access global markets via mobile phones and tablets. The app can be downloaded to iOS and Android (APK) devices for free.

While using Fortissio, we were impressed with the simple yet intuitive design of the app. The modern interface has all the functions of the web platform, such as an integrated economic calendar and live analysis tools. You can view your portfolio, open and close positions, and determine market sentiment with just a few clicks. You can also view live price data and charts within one screen and graphs can be customized with technical indicators and fundamental analysis tools.

The broker also offers a bespoke SMS service. This mobile function provides investors with news flash alerts, price notifications, and a daily economic calendar summary every morning.

Payment Methods

Deposits

Fortissio accepts all standard payment methods, including:

Bank wire transfer
Fast Bank Transfer by Worldpay
Visa, MasterCard, and Maestro credit/debit cards
E-wallets such as Skrill, Neteller, PayPal, and Sofort

Bank wire transfers can take up to four working days for funds to clear. However, e-wallet solutions, Worldpay, and credit/debit cards provide instant funding.

Our experts found that the broker does not charge any deposit fees but look out for third-party banking charges.

There is a minimum deposit requirement of €200 for all account types and no maximum limit.

Withdrawals

The broker processes all withdrawal requests within one working day, which is fast vs many competitors. However, the time taken for funds to be received back to the payment method will vary. Also, Fortissio is not transparent about withdrawal charges.

How To Request A Withdrawal

The easiest way to request a withdrawal from your Fortissio account is to complete the Withdrawal Request Form in the client area. You will need to provide details of the payment method and how much you want to withdraw.

Importantly, all withdrawals must be made back to the payment method used for deposits.

Demo Account

Fortissio does not offer a demo account, which is a real drawback vs competitors. This may put off aspiring traders, especially beginners.

Having said that, Fortissio does provide five Educational Trading Positions (ETPs) for all new clients. This means once your account is verified, the first five trades executed in live mode will be treated as virtual orders. Profits will be void and any losses made will be credited back to your account. These positions must be closed within the first three calendar days of live account verification. The practice trades can be made on all instruments using a maximum leverage of 1:20.

Contact the broker’s customer service team if you wish to opt out. Otherwise, this is an automatic program for all new clients. So simply register for a live account, upload identity verification documents, and start trading.

Bonuses & Promotions

While there aren’t any specific bonuses or promotions, you can access trading fee and swap rate discounts based on your account balance and activity.

But while this will appeal to experienced traders, we would like to see incentives for beginner traders as well.

Regulation & Licensing

Fortissio is a trading name of Vie Finance A.E.P.E.Y. S.A. The broker-dealer is a registered Greek Investment Firm, authorized and regulated by the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC), license number 4/792/20.7.2017. This financial watchdog is responsible for overseeing and regulating the capital market sector of Greek financial services. The firm is also registered in Germany with the BaFin.

Fortissio provides most of the safeguarding measures of a top-tier brokerage, including segregated client funds and negative balance protection.

The broker is also a member of the Guarantee Fund for Investment Services, which allows customers to claim compensation if a company is unable to fulfil its financial obligations.

The trading firm also follows the guidelines of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II).

Fortissio Account Types

Fortissio boasts an impressive 11 accounts. However, when we used Fortissio, there was no difference in the minimum deposit requirement (€200), minimum trade size (0.01 lots), and floating spreads available.

The main difference between the profiles is the account balance required for discounted trading fees and swap charges:

Starter – Between $200 and $999
Explorer – Between $1000 and $4999
Champion – Between $5000 and $9999
Elite – Between $10,000 and $14,999
Luxury – Between $15,000 and $29,999
VIP – Between $30,000 and $49,999
Prestige – Between $50,000 and $74,999
Superior – Between $75,000 and $99,999
Infinity – Between $100,000 and $149,999
Royal – Between $150,000 and $199,999
Expert – Over $200,000

Additional Features

Fortissio offers high-quality trading tools to support the user experience and aid investment decisions:

Autochartist

Autochartist is an automated market scanning tool that identifies opportunities and recommends entry and exit points in real time. The technical analysis service processes financial data 24 hours a day to provide valuable insights.

Fortissio offers all active customers access to the trading tool, with no additional fees. Users benefit from daily market reports, volatility analysis, chart pattern overviews, and past performance trends.

Calendars & News

A real-time economic calendar is available on the broker’s website and integrated into the client area. It provides details of upcoming events and data releases that may impact the price of an underlying asset.

Economic Calendar

The market news section is updated daily, providing information on the latest macroeconomic changes. There is also a weekly market outlook thread which can be found under the ‘Research’ icon in the top menu of the Fortissio homepage.

On the downside, education for beginners is lacking. There are no useful investing tool tutorials, app guides, or YouTube videos unpacking trading tips.

Opening Hours

Fortissio follows standard market opening hours. Forex, for example, can be traded from Sunday 21:00 to Friday 21:00 (GMT). Typically cryptocurrency offers the longest trading hours with the markets open 24/7.

Overnight financing fees will be debited/credited at 00:00 (GMT).

Customer Support

Fortissio offers a good range of customer service options, including live chat which can help with login issues, bank wire transfer support, and platform guidance.

However, when we tested the live chat channel, we did not receive a response. The service is designed to respond to an email address rather than via the tool.

A basic FAQ section can also be found on the broker’s website, but information is relatively limited.

Telephone – +302112340925
Email – customer.support@fortissio.com
Online Contact Form – ‘Contact Us’ webpage
Address – Vie Finance A.E.P.E.Y S.A. 4, 28th October Street, Marousi, Greece

The broker’s office opening hours are Monday to Friday, 08.00 to 20.00 (GMT+2).

Security & Safety

Fortissio’s proprietary trading platform is protected by a Secure Socket Layer (SSL). This means all personal information is transferred in a secure environment.

Alongside negative balance protection and segregated accounts, we are comfortable that the broker offers a fairly secure trading environment.

Fortissio Verdict

Fortissio does have some positive points going for it, including European regulation, a wide range of instruments, and practice trades. However, the discounted pricing model massively favors active day traders rather than those just starting out. The customer support service is also lacking and the absence of demo accounts, MetaTrader 4, or beginner-friendly educational content is far from ideal. Overall, Fortissio is the best fit for active traders that can make use of the fee rebates.

Accepted Countries

Fortissio accepts traders from Australia, Thailand, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Qatar and most other countries.

Traders can not use Fortissio from United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Belgium, Iran, Japan, Korea.
