BoE’s Haldane: Uncertainties about the job market remain pretty acute

Bank of England Chief Economist Andy Haldane noted on Tuesday that the uncertainties about the job market remain "pretty acute," as reported by Reuters.

"We've still got more than 3 million workers on furlough across the UK and that means that uncertainties about the future jobs market remain pretty acute," Haldane said.

Market reaction

The British pound remains under modest bearish pressure following these comments. As of writing, the GBP/USD pair was trading at a fresh daily low of 1.4125, losing 0.37% on a daily basis.
